Mark and Malcolm set off on an exciting day of aviation adventure, flying the Cabri G2 helicopter (registration G-CKRK) to Kemble Airport for lunch. Their route was as scenic as it was memorable, taking them over the iconic Highclere Castle, famously known as Downton Abbey, on the way out. The return journey was equally picturesque, crossing the Ascot – Thorpe corridor, offering a unique perspective of the British countryside.
Kemble Airport (Cotswold Airport) proved to be a treasure trove of aviation interest. Among the sights were a fleet of retired Boeing 747s, their grandeur undiminished despite their static status. Adding to the excitement was a de Havilland Vampire jet, which was actively performing circuits, its sleek silhouette a testament to classic aviation design and performance.
Lunch at Kemble offered Mark and Malcolm the chance to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this bustling hub for aviation enthusiasts. The journey, filled with stunning views and fascinating aircraft, was beautifully capped off with the return flight aboard their trusty Cabri G2, making it a day to remember.
